Cambodia Airways offers free flights for the SEA Games delegation

The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) has announced that Cambodia Airways has offered to fly the Cambodian delegation to the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam free of charge.

Cambodia Airways’ offer came after Prime Minister Hun Sen asked the NOCC to make new plans to bring the delegation to Vietnam via special charter flights.

The Cambodian leader stressed the need for special planes to transport Cambodian athletes, coaches and other sports officials in light of the pandemic-related travel restrictions in Vietnam.

In addition to the existing restrictions, the Vietnamese Olympic Committee has also set different arrival dates for different sports.

“They will be able to maintain their mental and physical health,” he said. “It will make them more effective as they look to win more medals in Vietnam.”

Cambodia is aiming for a bigger medal haul at the 2021 SEA Games, to be held May 12-23 in Hanoi and neighboring provinces.
