CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy praised for promoting sport
Kurnool: Srinivasulu, National Game Secretary Sepak Takraw, hoped that athletes competing in the Tokyo Olympics would bring home more medals for the nation.
It is more important that the athletes show playfulness in the field in which they participate and win the hearts of the spectators. He said after competing in the Olympic Day race observed at Kurnool on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasulu said the Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to start on July 7.
He hopes that the athletes representing India at the Olympics will do their best to win medals for India. Each athlete must aim for a medal in the individual or group events.
District Skating Organization Secretary Sunil Kumar and Archery Organization Secretary Naga Rathnamaiah said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy attached importance to the sports sector. Several athletes have obtained jobs in the recent secretariat of the village and the district under a sports quota.
Athletes participating at the national level were rewarded with cash prizes and certificates of mention, the secretaries said.
Previously, an Olympic Day run was run from the basketball court at Camp B spanning multiple circles and then ended on the basketball court.
Silver Jubilee College Physical Education Teacher Dr Kalyan Kumar, Secretary of Yoga Organization Avinash Shetty, Secretary of National Ball Shooting Association Parashu Ramudu, Secretary of Master Athletes Association Ravi Kumar, district handball association president Dr Rudra Reddy, secretary of Rasool gymnastics association, district president of squash organization Adi Narayana and others participated in the Olympic day run.
