Malaysia’s Sepak Takraw League to Air on US Sports Channel (VIDEO) | Show biz
KUALA LUMPUR, October 7 – The American sports channel All Sports Television Network will present sepak takraw to the American public.
It was after the TV network came to an agreement with local broadcaster, Astro, to broadcast the Sepak Takraw League (STL) produced by Astro Arena.
In accordance with the agreement, All Sports will broadcast the events of STL’s international, national and regional tournaments.
According to All Sports president Roger Neal Smith, the network also plans to broadcast matches from other sepak takraw organizations around the world.
“We are really excited to present sepak takraw to the American public.
“The game broadcast further accomplishes our goal of opening the doors to the world of sports for US fans, allowing them to start experiencing events from around the world,” Smith said in a press release.
Meanwhile, Astro Sports Manager Lee Choong Khay is also expressing his enthusiasm as sepak takraw finally gets the international recognition he deserves.
Lee added that STL, for the past eight seasons, has been a local favorite and has attracted regional viewers and participation over the past few seasons.
“Through STL, we continue to work with the sports ministries in Malaysia to develop the sport and its athletes.
“The league offers competitions of the highest level that will thrill fans and new viewers to the sport.
“With STL broadcasting for the first time to another region via All Sports, we hope to develop more fans and new athletes of sepak takraw,” said Lee.
