Drexel wins behind 3 goals by Chris Donovan and posts a shutout on Seniors Day, Penn plays for a draw in New York. Villanova’s winning streak ends
The Drexel Dragons won their game of the week by beating UMass, Lowell on Senior Matchday 4 – 0. Chris Donovan scored 3 goals. He leads the team in goals (8) and points (18). The Quakers of the University of Pennsylvania traveled to upper Manhattan for an Ivy League game against Columbia. Penn came home with a 1 – 1 draw. Stan Korzeniowski scored the Red & Blues’ goal in the 73rd minute. Three schools split their weekend list. The Wild Cats of Villanova won 1 – 0 at UConn to set a better schedule for Big East’s fourth straight win. Lyam MacKinnon got the match winner from a penalty in the 103rd minute. The streak ended when St. John’s defeated Villanova 1-0 on a Lucas Bartlett penalty in the 92sd minute. It was the first conference loss for the Wildcats. The The falcons of St. Joseph played two tough Atlantic 10 games. The Hawks fell 3-2 in overtime against the 14e ranked Saint Louis Billikens when Chandler Vaughn won the match in the 101st minute. The Billikens took the lead and the Hawks tied him to goal at the end of first overtime. Saint Joe’s bounced back with a 1-0 win at Saint-Bonaventure. Garrett Lyons put in the game winner at the 59e minute. Goalkeeper Lars Haavie recorded his first win and a shutout at Olean. The Temple Owls found themselves involved in two shutouts in the two home games. The Owls were on the good side beating Princeton 2-0. They were on the bad side losing a 3-0 decision in an American game against USF, who scored 2 goals in the first half. The Explorers of La Salle lost an Atlantic home game 10 4-2 to the Davidson Wildcats. Omari Cotterell scored both Explorers goals, his first of the season. It was a close game until the Wildcats opened it up with back-to-back second-half goals less than 8 minutes apart.
In a city game and a battle of 33rd Street Drexel and Penn meet at Rhodes Field. Villanova continues to play Big East by hosting Creighton. Howard, who will play La Salle in a non-conference game, will be coming to town. Saint Joseph’s is no longer in conference to play Lafayette. Temple has an American in Tulsa.

Summary – The Quakers outscored the Lions 11 – 9, 5 – 2 on goal. Joey Bhangdia got the assist. Penn is looking for his first victory in the Ancient Eight.

Results – Lost 3 – 2 (OT) vs # 14 Saint Louis, Won 1 – 0 in St. Bonaventure
Summary – Bryce Wallace and Omry Perel scored for the Hawks against the Billikens. Perel also registered an assist. Goalkeeper Lars Haavie made 5 saves.
Next match – October 12 in Lafayette
TEMPLE 2 – 6 – 2 Overall, 0 – 5 – 0 AAC
Results – Won 2-0 against Princeton, Lost 3-0 against USF
Summary – Chaim Roserie and Jalen Campbell put the ball over the line in the second half. It was the first goal of the season for each player. Goalkeeper Liam Cummings made 7 saves in his first shutout against the Tigers. Temple is looking for his first AAC win of the season.

Results – Won 1 – 0 (OT) in Connecticut, lost 1 – 0 against St. John’s at Higgins Soccer Complex
Summary – The Wildcats found themselves on both sides of a 1-0 game, both games being decided by a penalty.
