Although the cruise industry is at a standstill due to COVID-19, BVI is joining a few Caribbean destinations that continue to generate much-needed revenue from cruise lines looking for a home to dock and perform maintenance on board.

The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) announced that Royal Caribbean International Size of the seas and Rhapsody of the Seas will leave the territory on February 6 and 7 respectively.

The two ships have docked at the port of Cyril B Romney Tortola Pier Park since January.

BVIPA declared on February 11, 2021, Size of the seas will return to the territory alongside a second Royal Caribbean ship, Vision of the seas, for a continuation of the hot lay-up.

The public is reminded that the cruise dock is a secure area and that people are not allowed to pass through the security barrier.

Security personnel monitor areas where cruise ships dock to ensure there are no violations by residents or ship crew.
