Second fire breaks out near Henley Park as crews rush to Dolleys Hill Park scene


A second fire has broken out in Pirbright as crews from across Surrey help tackle the blaze. Hampshire and Surrey firefighters battled a very large open fire in Henley Park for most of the day.

Crews received the call shortly before 11.30am today (April 23) and have since been at the scene trying to bring the fire under control. Smoke could be seen billowing across Surrey, with footage of the blaze capturing smoke as far away as Farnham.

Firefighters also advised people with breathing difficulties to stay indoors, and others were warned to stop walking around in the smoke from the blaze.

The Henley Park fire is now under control, but an area of ​​approximately 10km remains burnt. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

However, crews are now deployed for a second fire a few minutes drive down the road. The other fire started at Dolleys Hill Park in Pirbright Road.

Taking to Twitter, the fire and rescue team asked nearby residents to close their windows and doors. Nine vehicles are currently present.

The tweet read: “A second fire has developed in the vicinity of Henley Park in #Pirbright. This has nine fire and rescue vehicles and is located in Dolleys Hill Park, Pirbright Road. The Nearby houses should also close windows and doors.”
