The sports fraternity sends its best wishes to Ismail Sabri
KUALA LUMPUR (August 21): Sports organizations across the country sent their best wishes to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who was sworn in as the ninth prime minister today.
Among them were the National Sports Council (MSN), the National Sports Institute (ISN), the Malaysian Olympic Council (MOM) and the Malaysian Badminton Association (BAM). The messages were delivered through their official social media accounts.
The President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, the FAM Executive Committee and staff also extended their best wishes to Ismail Sabri on his appointment.
“We hope that the sports industry, including football, will be a priority for the federal government under his leadership,” the FAM said in a statement.
Ismail Sabri is a familiar face in the country’s sports fraternity, having served as Mac Youth and Sports Minister 2008 until April 2009, which incidentally was his first full ministerial appointment.
He was also president of the Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex in 1996.
Former Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Asian Federation President Sepak Takraw (ASTAF) Datuk Abdul Halim Kader and the Malaysian Football League (MFL) also conveyed their wishes to MP for Bera. – Bernama
