Union Minister Choubey congratulates sports personalities from Manipur


Imphal, September 22 (UNI) The Union Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, congratulated the national and international sportspeople from various fields and who have won medals at the Olympics and other world sporting events at a reception held at the Classic Hotel last night.

The Minister congratulated all the athletes for their

contribution to sports and games. He also said that they are a

inspiration for the next generation and congratulated them on their

continued efforts to improve sports culture in the state.

The Minister expressed his hope and belief that talented young people

of Manipur will bring laurels to the country under the

advice from decorated and distinguished athletes.

Sportsmen congratulated by the Minister of State of the Union in charge of

their distinguished achievements included hockey player Ksh. Thoïba

who represented India at the Olympic Games in Seoul, 1988, Nilakanta Sharma, Bronze

medalist, winning hockey contingent in recent Tokyo

2020 Olympics, winner Arjuna Chinglen Sana Singh who had

represented India at the Rio Olympics in 2016, judo player Kumari Sushila

Likmabam who represented India at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Arjuna Awardee L. Sarah Devi, 2006 world boxing champion and Asian Common Wealth Games gold and silver medalist, Wushu player Bimoljit Singh , three-time Asian Games participant and two-time bronze medalist in Doha, Qatar, Sepak player Takraw Kh. Niken Singh, Asian Games bronze medalist in Jakarta, Indonesia, 2008, Akash Yumnam, Asian Games.
