What offering should you give to the gargoyle king
The Witcher: Monster Slayer The second quest is an extended treasure hunt that will take you to the lair of a mythical Gargoyle King.
Entitled “A Joint Venture,” the mission opens with a negotiation with a merchant named Thorstein, who has been informed of valuable loot hidden nearby. He agrees to share the wealth with you on the condition that you take care of all the fighting and dangerous parts of the journey, while he only looks sideways.
As this is an augmented reality (AR) game in the vein of Pokémon Go, you have to physically go out to find the elusive treasure. Specifically, you will need to follow a waypoint that Thorstein has marked on your map, which will lead you to a puzzle for you to solve. News week has already prepared a guide on how to solve this puzzle.
Once you’ve done that, Thorstein will translate some ancient runes that outline your next steps. According to the enigmatic message, you must now find the ancient “gargoyle king” – who protects the treasure you seek – and challenge him to a duel.
Walkthrough “A Joint Venture”: Find the Gifts for the Gargoyle King
After completing the stone monolith puzzle, your map will automatically update with four separate markers. One of them signifies where you can find the Gargoyle King himself, while the other three represent gifts you can give to appease him.
All four waypoints should appear next to each other, so you don’t have to venture too far to collect them. If they are not close enough or if they have generated randomly in an inaccessible area, you have the option of “relocating” them in your log.
We recommend that you find all three Artifacts (Heart, Sword, and Crown) before speaking with the Gargoyle King. The reason is that, as you approach each of the gift altars, you will be ambushed by a specter that is relatively easy to defeat. Not only will you get XP for defeating these ghosts, but if you manage to defeat all three of them, then you can claim a bonus ability point from the bestiary.
Finding the heart and crown offerings should be pretty straightforward, but when you get to the sword altar, you’ll find that the last gift is missing. Turns out the blade has already been stolen by another potential adventurer. Don’t worry though, as the sword will appear momentarily.
“A Joint Venture” Walkthrough: What Gift Should You Give the Gargoyle King
With the Heart and Crown Offerings in your possession, you can now head to the Gargoyle King.
When you get to the monster’s abode, you’ll find the skeletal remains of the aforementioned treasure hunter with the missing sword right next to him. The implication here is that your predecessor clearly failed all the tests the Gargoyle King had in store.
Speaking of which, now you will need to decide which of the three offerings you want to present to the Gargoyle King. A riddle states that you must examine the crown, sword, and heart and decide which of them is the most majestic.
If you make the wrong decision, it’s not the end of the world, as your mistake will only trigger another encounter between the specters. In other words, you won’t fail the quest.
According to Indiana Jones Logically, the sword and the crown are there to deceive those who think that a king should reign with an iron fist. Instead, the conclusion you’re supposed to draw is that a good leader should consult his heart, so this is the offering you need to make here.
Walkthrough “A Joint Venture”: Fighting the Gargoyle King “
By choosing wisely, you’ve proven that you’re worthy enough to challenge the Gargoyle King in a one-on-one fight.
The Stone Warrior is actually quite formidable, but if you prepare with the right loadout, he can be defeated. You should definitely prioritize crafting element oil as it will give you a significant damage buff in combat. During this time, he is also vulnerable to Dimeritium Bombs which you can purchase from the in-game store using gold coins.
Lastly, make sure you use heavy hits, as the Gargoyle King barely recoils on quick hits. Only by using strong attacks will you be able to fill its lag bar to the point where you can land a critical hit. On that note, also make sure to deflect his projectile vomit and melee strikes so that your progress doesn’t reset.
If you use a combination of Dimeritium Bombs, Igni Sign, and Critical Hits, you should be able to defeat this formidable opponent and complete the quest.
