Women in the spotlight at the top
PILIPINAS Sepaktakraw Inc. Federation President Karen Tanchanco-Caballero highlighted “Women in Sport” at the 17th National Sports Summit (NSS) 2021 session on Wednesday.
Caballero, also deputy general secretary of the Philippine Olympic Committee and first female vice-president of the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation and the International Sepaktakraw Federation, will provide an overview of the active role of women in sport today.
It will also provide insight into the dynamics of taking on key roles as a sports leader and promoting advocacy for “gender and development and management and programs in sports and athletes”.
Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez underscored the central role of exploring gender equality at the summit.
“Women have long played the same and often main tasks in promoting the sporting excellence of the country,” said Ramirez. “It is a privilege for us to have one of the most esteemed female sports leaders to speak on this at our national conference.”
Tanchanco-Caballero is also a former chair of the Southeast Asian Games Federation Women and Sports Committee and the team leader of the Philippines at the 2016 Asian Beach Games in Da Nang, In Vietnam.
