Women Shine the Spotlight on PSC National Sports Summit
Pilipinas Sepaktakraw Federation Inc. President Karen Tanchanco-Caballero spoke about “women in sport” at the 17th session of the 2021 National Sport Summit on Wednesday. Caballero, who is also Deputy Secretary General of the Philippine Olympic Committee and first female vice-president of the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation and the International Sepaktakraw Federation, provides insight into the active role of women in sport today. It also provides insight into the dynamics of taking on key roles as a sports leader and promoting advocacy for “gender and development and management and programs in sports and athletes”. Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez discussed the central role of exploring gender equality at the sports conference. “Women have long played the same tasks, and often main tasks, in promoting the sporting excellence of the country. It is a privilege for us to have one of the most esteemed women sport leaders to speak on this at our national conference, ”he said. Tanchanco-Caballero was also a former chair of the Southeast Asian Games Federation Women and Sports Committee and team leader of the Philippines for the 2016 Asian Beach Games in Da Nang, In Vietnam.
